Entry Information & Rules

All Entries must be at least 50% Alpaca
-
A Maximum of 2 entries per division/category/class as long as different methods are used per exhibitor with no limit on how many classes a farm may enter.

Each entry must have been completed after April 7, 2007. There will be no Substitutions.

Judging will be anonymous, with points given for creativity, craftsmanship, hand-feel, visual appeal, appropriate use of fiber and technique, effectiveness, written description, intended use, final finish, etc.

Classes may be combined if less than four entries per class are received.

The Judge may change the category/class of any item at their discretion.

An AOBA fee of $3 per entry is required.
-
Entries must be on display for the entire Alpacapalooza event.

No sales of entries will take place in the judging/display area. Private treaty sales are accepted after the show.

Only entries hand-delivered during the check-in time will be accepted for judging. Deliver entries to the Fiber Arts Display area on Thursday, April 3rd (from 1pm-7pm). No mail-ins will be accepted.

Entries are to be picked up by Owner on Sunday, April 6th (from 2pm-3pm).

- Skeins must be at least 50 yards in length, 1 ½ - 2 yards in circumference and “figure 8” tied in 4 places and placed in a one gallon zip lock style clear plastic bag.
- Each entry must include a 3 x 5 card with a description that includes fiber preparation, fiber content, technique used, and intended use of the yarn (i.e., clothing, rug, etc). It will not have any identifying information.
Division
All will be Division I for Handspun
Groups
I - Beginner - Spinning for less than one year.
- Junior – 18 years olds and younger.
- Adult – over 18.

II – Intermediate – Spinning for more that one year. |
III – Advanced – Spinning for more than one year and achieved 90 or greater points in a given class. |
Category
A. Yarn spun from commercially prepared fiber (roving, batts, Tops, etc)
B. Yarn spun from fiber that was hand prepared by the spinner
Class
1. Hand Spindle
2. Classic Yarn – single – 100% Huacaya (natural or dyed)
3. Classic Yarn – single – 100% Suri (natural or dyed)
4. Classic Yarn – 2 or more ply – 100% Huacaya (natural or dyed)
5. Classic Yarn – 2 or more ply – 100% Suri (natural or dyed)
6. Classic Yarn – 2 or more ply – blend with at least 50% Alpaca
7. Novelty Yarn – Boucles, Thick & thin, Beaded, Etc (at least 50% alpaca)

7. Hearth & Home – Home Furnishing (Rugs, Pillows, afghans, etc.)
